Matches should start around 8:30 AM and go until 3:30 PM or so. Please come out and support our students. It should be loud and fun!

Teams: There will be 6 seeding rounds. Please make sure that you turn in your driver's roster on Friday while your machine is being inspected.

10/10/11 - Please take a look at this information relating to the events and schedule for this final week of SA BEST.

9/26/11 - We've updated a few of the links since the rules no longer are password protected and we discovered the Texas BEST website for 2011. Teams can help us out by updating their profile information. Remember that the profile information you enter on this website is what we use for the printed program. It's a great chance to recognize everyone who contributed to the team.

9/18/11 - Believe it or not, the first two weeks of your development time are gone! Only three weeks until demo-day. Can your robot move yet? Please take a moment and update your team information. You'll also notice that the notebook upload link now exists for team administrators. This link will cease to function after 3:00 pm on October 9th (Demo Day) - please don't wait until 2:59 to find out how accurate the clock is on the web server.

9/5/11 - We have 31 teams off and running after the kickoff on 9/3. Kit training is this Saturday 9/10 at St. Mary's University - please remember to bring your computer (with software) and your complete return kit (with charged batteries). There are two sessions offered. We'll make sure that you know the basics of programming the Cortex and/or help you with your software setup. And no, we can't help you with your Mac - sorry.

The SA BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) competition is a contest held annually to inspire and interest students in the fields of science and engineering. With guidance from adult mentors, local teams of students design and build a remote controlled machine to accomplish a specific task. The students are given a box of raw materials from which to build the machine and 6 weeks to design and construct it. The task of the robot is kept secret until Kick-off Day, when all the teams are told what the robot is required to do.  On Competition Day, all schools will compete head-on with each other in a thrilling science-fair-turned-sports-event.  Several teams advance to the regional Texas Best competition and compete with the BEST robots from other areas. More information on the BEST concept is available.
